Dr. Nachiket Patel, MD.

The good physician treats the disease. The great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”   – Sir William Osler

Dr. Nachiket Patel grew up outside of Chicago, IL. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology. He specializes in the treatment of coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Dr. Patel started his journey in the medical field by completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and then went to the Chicago Medical School where he received his Doctor of Medicine with a distinction in research. He did his internal medicine residency at Creighton University in Omaha, NE and cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville where he served as chief fellow his third year. Dr. Patel made his way to Phoenix where he completed his interventional cardiology fellowship at Banner University Medical Center and advanced training in peripheral and endovascular interventions.

Dr. Patel believes that being a strong, well-rounded doctor involves not only excellent patient care, but also participating in the education of future physicians and research. To that end, when not working with patients, Dr. Patel is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. He has also published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is the principle investigator of the TORUS 2 clinical trial, studying a new type of stent in the treatment of peripheral artery disease, and RESTOR-1 Study a device to open 100% occluded arteries in the legs.

Dr. Patel understands firsthand the stress and anxiety patients and their families go through from having a heart condition, when his mom required 2 heart artery stents. He wants his patients to understand their disease, and work together to come up with an individualized treatment plan involving any procedures, medications, and lifestyle changes, to allow for living the longest, most quality of life possible.

I have known these cardiologists for the entirety of their years at CAI. I am both a colleague and a patient. When doctors care about their patients, each and every one of them, you know you have found a good doctor. I assure you, this group of doctors all do. Their main focus is excellence because they care.
