Electrophysiology

Electrophysiology is the branch of physiology that studies the electrical properties of the heart. Our electrophysiologist focuses on both general cardiology with continued education and training to specifically treat electrical problems and sometimes weakness of the heart muscleThis often includes monitors to diagnose electrical problems creating quality of life issues for individuals. These monitors can be worn for a day or weeks. Ultimately an implantable monitor can be used to diagnose or monitor for recurrence of previous electrical problems. Problems can include atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, fast rates, slow rates, and pauses. The treatments can include medical therapy, cardioversion, ablation, pacemaker, and internal cardioverter defibrillator placement.
